Fusion Screen: Tue 5 - Sat 30 Aug
Lord Horatio Nelson is considered by many to be a true Norfolk hero. During the summer of 2014 an exhibition on the Fusion Screen will tell the story of his victory at the Battle of the Nile and his victorious home coming to Great Yarmouth.

Atrium Exhibition: Wed 6 - Fri 15 Aug

Visit The Forum’s main Atrium for the launch of the Nelson’s Norfolk app, storytelling and crafts for children, artefacts and re-enactments. Also talks from enthusiasts and experts.
  • Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 August.Black Knight Historical provides costumed interpretation activity in the Atrium and Fusion.
  • Living History Days Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 August
    Join Nelson’s captain and crew at The Forum and find out what life was like in the navy in Lord Nelson’s time. There are be demonstrations, objects to handle and stories of The Press Gang, Life on board a ship, disease and discipline, food and drink,  medical procedures and maybe even a musket and blunderbuss or two!
    Come and see some of the objects used by the crew, including the hard tack biscuit, telescopes, and the famous bosun’s whistle!

  • Saturday August 9
    East Norfolk Militia performs a re-enactment outside The Forum. The East Norfolk Militia is a red coat Napoleonic era re-enactment group recreating the British Army's militia of the Georgian period of 1803-1815. Three re-enactments will take place  - 11.30am, 1pm and 3.30pm, times may be subject to change.
  • Monday 11 to Thursday 14 August
    School holiday activities take place in the Atrium 
    Tuesday 12 & Thursday 14 - Nautical Arts and Crafts 10.30am - 3.30pm
    Wednesday 13 & Thursday 14 - Giant colouring Cube 11am-4pm
    Wednesday 13 - Nelson Storytelling at 11am
    Throughout the week - Hunt for Napoleon computer game and table-top Battle of the Nile map & ships game.
  • Monday 11 and Friday 15 August
    Join in with a game of Sails of Glory, a unique battle strategy board game by Ares Games.  We have an expert on hand and there is an opportunity to have a go at ‘Ship to Ship Combat in the Age of Sail’  (suitable for ages 13+)
    Atrium Games start at 11am and 2pm 
  • Visit the library to see a book published in 1803 commemorating four great naval victories.
The book is in a display case on the second floor of the library
