Christmas Switch-on

Christmas Switch-on, Thursday 20 November 6pm to 8pm

Celebrate the start of the Christmas season in Norwich city centre.

Streets will sparkle and glow, stars shoot into the sky and Father Christmas will appear on his old-fashioned sleigh to ask children: Have you been very, very good?
City Hall stage, 6pm to 7.30pm

From 6pm to 7.30pm David Webster (from BBC Radio Norfolk) will host the evening and will be joined by:
The Garage
Gospel Touch
Circo Rum Ba Ba’s ‘Acrobatic Ice Elves’
Angie Mack’s ‘Festive Funky Hooping’
a giant snowball throw
a special appearance by Father Christmas
and a Christmas blessing from the Archdeacon of Norwich, Jan McFarlane. 
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 7pm with a burst of pyrotechnics from City Hall and Jarrold store. 

The Forum, 4.30pm to 8.30pm
Christmas films will be showing in Fusion from 4.30pm

Lantern Parade leaving at 6.15pm

Father Christmas will wind his way through the city’s street to the Forum on his red sleigh. He will be joined by Invidia Voices choir and groups from Colman Junior School, Wensum Junior School, Nansa, the Silver Rooms and Future Projects with the beautiful lanterns they have made.

The parade will leave Norwich Cathedral at 6.15pm, cross Tombland into Queens Street, cross Bank Plain into London Street, Castle Street, Davey Place, Gentleman’s Walk, Hay Hill and arrive at Millennium Plain. 

Norwich Harmony will be outside Virgin Lounge on Davey Place.
Street entertainment on St Peters Street and Millennium Plain.
