Title of talk: Europe: federal or bust?
About speaker: Andrew Duff was the Liberal Democrat MEP for the East of England and spokesman for the Liberal group on constitutional affairs from 1999-2014. He was a member of the Convention on the Charter of Fundamental Rights and of the Convention on the Future of Europe. He was one of Parliament's representatives at the IGC which drafted the Treaty of Lisbon. During his time in the Parliament, Duff was Rapporteur on the electoral reform of the European Parliament, the Commission auditions, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
Andrew Duff was President of the Union of European Federalists 2008-13, and co-chaired the federalist intergroup in the Parliament. Before becoming an MEP, Duff was Director of the Federal Trust in London. In 2013 he led the Spinelli Group's publication of A Fundamental Law (Bertelsmann Stiftung). His most recent publication is Pandora, Penelope, Polity: How to Change the European Union (John Harper, 2015).
