FREE taster session at the Norwich Rock Choir
The Curve Auditorium At The Forum Norwich
Tue 4th November 2014
Times: 10:30am til 12:00pm (last entry 10:30am)

Come as a guest for FREE and find your voice at your local choir in Norwich. This year we're taking everyone to the NEC in Birmingham

The Norwich Rock Choir is led by Norfolk based musician Ian Sainsbury. You may know about our mysterious choir flash mobs around the country for Comic Relief, our sell-out performances at venues like the O2 or our hit ITV documentary, but at Rock Choir we know it's not just about the unique huge events, it's about our choir members singing in the community. Join your local Norwich Rock Choir to become part of this 'national phenomenon' (as described in the Sunday Times) and discover a whole new world of opportunities to sing and make friends! Every week local people like you attend group rehearsals and learn pop, rock, Motown and every now and again a 'pop gospel' song. You can try a FREE taster session to see to experience the easy going atmosphere and expert vocal tuition. Go to our website to book you own FREE singing session to get a taste of singing in the choir.

Here's a quote from one of the choir members: 'I have been a member of Rock Choir for 3 years and I can honestly say that joining was the best thing I ever did. I look forward to my weekly rehearsals and leave the hall on a high! Long live Rock Choir!!! ' - Gilly (Rock Choir member)

NORWICH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2014

NORWICH FRINGE FESTIVAL
11-25 OCTOBER 2014

Standby for Norwich Fringe Festival, with visual art and performance popping up across the city in October.

Norwich Fringe Festival is upon us again, bringing a selection of new work from home-grown artists and one or two visitors from elsewhere! This annual, volunteer-run festival is expert at creating opportunities for emerging and established artists and performers, involving venues across the city.

For 2014, the main Fringe venue is the Undercroft under the Memorial Gardens in front of City Hall, an interesting informal space which will have a visual art exhibition throughout, with 6 artists presenting a range of work, including augmented reality and sound installations. In the Undercroft this year we also have events such as performances, workshops, quizzes and music. Other things may ‘pop up’ during the Fringe, especially in the Twilight Hour 6-7pm, so it’s a good place to drop in and see what’s happening. If you haven’t visited the Undercroft before, you have every reason to do so this October. Many events are free or donations

The Fringe Twilight Hour 6-7pm – on many days you will find short performances in ‘the Twilight Hour’ 6-7pm in the Undercroft. This is a time when people can pass by on their way home after shopping or work, or on their way to the pub, cinema, theatre for an evening out. And you can see the exhibition at the same time. Drop in and see what the Undercroft has to offer and check the website for updates to the programme. #fringetwilight

We also have more visual art at STEW, The Birdcage, Franks Bar and the Wharf Academy, and performances in the Wharf Academy, The Birdcage, The Garage, The Mash Tun and The Waterfront.

  • Filming with greenscreens: We’ll use latest movie techniques to film with green screens, taking you to wherever you want to go. You’ll be shown how to use chromakeying and taken through the steps to use green screens effectively – become a weather person, an astronaut or a deep sea dive
  • Introduction to Documentary making: Learn how to make an interesting documentary, taking in interview techniques, camerawork and picking a subject
