Support to find work for 18-24 year olds

Talent Match - If you are aged 18 - 24, live in Norwich and have been out of work for over 12 months then Talent Match can help you find employment, training and work experience.  Talent Match is a free service for motivated young people which is completely voluntary to attend.

We are here to support you on a one-to-one basis to help you achieve your goals. We tailor sessions to your needs, and will work out an individual plan to help you to gain the skills and experience to move into work.

Examples of what we offer:

•Support finding work experience
•Regular support in the lead up to, and during work experience and employment
•Assistance in gaining relevant training CV advice
•Guidance on job applications 
•Support for self-employment
Talent Match is a £100 million Big Lottery Fund investment project to help long-term unemployed young people, aged 18-24, to gain employment across England.

Its aim is to ensure that the skills and experience of the voluntary and community sector can be used to help tackle youth unemployment and it has been designed by young people, for young people.

Voluntary Norfolk is working in partnership with The Prince’s Trust and other organisations in New Anglia to support unemployed young people into work through the Talent Match programme. 

This programme has been fully funded by the Big Lottery Fund as part of Talent Match.

Norfolk's Children's Centres provide a range of services, many of which are free, that support all parents and carer's to give their child the best start in life.
Children's Centre's can offer help and advice on child and family health, parenting, money and employment as they work in partnership with other people and organisations to deliver services including Job Centre Plus, health visitors, midwives and GPs.  They also work with community groups  who provide nursery care and early learning such as childminders, pre-school's, childcare providers and community groups to provide access to universal early year's services.
All Norfolk's Children's Centre's aim to support every child and every family in their community and can offer specialist support to families who have a child with special educational needs and or disabilities however complex or challenging their needs may be.

Campaign to Save Mental Health Services in Norfolk and Suffolk Open Meeting

Carers Rights Day is about getting carers the information and advice they need to claim benefits, access practical support and find out how technology can help take the pressure off.

From 10.00 until 13.00 at Costessey Community Centre. Supported by Sainsbury’s Longwater store.

Each year Carers UK organises Carers Rights Day to:
* Increase the take up of benefits - it is estimated that millions of carers’ benefits aren’t claimed.
* Make sure carers know their rights – every year, more than 2 million people become carers but many don’t identify themselves as carers and miss out on support. Even those who have been caring for years sometimes aren't aware of their entitlements.
* Guide carers towards practical support – it's not just about benefits. Carers often do not realise practical support is available, like replacement care to give the carer time off, help with lifting and bathing, equipment and home adaptations that can be vital in protecting carers’ health.
* Raise awareness of the needs of carers – Carers Rights Day raises awareness of the needs of carers with the public, decision makers and professionals.

Norwich Farmshare is a community farm on the edge of Norwich, near Postwick. We help adults and children learn about the source of their food and train volunteers in practical growing skills. We grow food for over 80 members and deliver weekly around the city.

We’d love to see you at our annual Open Day on Saturday 27th September 10-4.30. We will be welcoming Bob Flowerdew from BBC Gardener’s Question Time and there’ll be some great live music, kids activities, delicious food stalls, games and pop-up talks. Free legal advice

We offer free, confidential and independent legal advice to people in Norfolk who might not otherwise be able to access legal assistance. 

Our Free Legal Advice service in Norwich offers twice weekly drop-in sessions of free, independent legal advice staffed by local solicitors on a pro-bono basis. We offer legal advice on general, employment and family matters.  The drop-in sessions are held every Tuesday and Friday from 12 noon. Two qualified lawyers or experienced paralegals attend each session.

These sessions are very busy. We do not offer appointments at these sessions but ask that you arrive by 10.30am if possible to book in with our receptionist. Appointments are usually limited to 15 minutes in order to maximise the number of people our advisers can see.
Many problems can be resolved immediately, but where this is not possible, clients are referred to specialist advisers and are advised about the availability of Legal Aid.

How Trade School works

Trade School is a non-traditional learning space where students barter with teachers.

After you submit your class idea, when you'd like to teach, and what you want in exchange for teaching, Trade School organizers will review your submission. If your submission is approved, it will be posted on the website for students to sign up. On the day of class, you will meet your students at Trade School, receive your barter items, and enjoy the class.

Under1roof is a training and development centre targeted at people who are homeless or who are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness.

What happens there?

Although the emphasis of the project is clearly focused on providing people with skills that can help them compete for jobs in the greater community, not all training sessions will necessarily be work related.  Much of what will be on offer will be informal learning to help develop  confidence, build self esteem and inspire, prior to taking up work based training.  These sessions can also support people achieve basic skills such as literacy and numeracy.

Free impartial careers advice at Broadland Meridian

I wouldn't normally post something like this but I thought with all the people in Norwich who are out of work, or unhappy in work, it may be relevant for some people.

Broadland Meridian have funding through the National Careers Service to offer free sessions of careers advice to ANYONE (it doesn't matter if you're in work or not), and up to three sessions if you're out of work (for whatever reason).  This could be info about volunteering, education / courses, getting a CV, interview advice etc.

They're trained to work with people who experience additional barriers, but they also work with middle managers looking for a career change, recently redundant etc.
